What to do when some loved one dies?

Death in hospital

Death certificate, identity card of the deceased person, identity card of the processing person (direct family member).

Death by accident:

Delivery of the body in forensic medicine, death certificate, identity card of the deceased person, identity card of the transferring person (direct family member).

Death from documented illness outside the hospital:

Call a doctor to obtain the death certificate, identity card of the deceased person, identity card of the transferee (direct family member).

Requirements for burial:

  1. Copy of Death Certificate:
  2. Copy of the identity card of the deceased.
  3. Payment of the opening right (¢ 412,456 VAT included).
  4. Presence of the property owner or beneficiaries.
  5. 6 business hours for opening.

Requirements for cremation:

  1. Death certificate.
  2. Autopsy certificate performed by a pathologist (as required by law). La Piedad provides the service. This certificate is not necessary if the body is in Forensic Medicine.
  3. Permit from the Ministry of Health. La Piedad provides that service.
